Natasha's Bistro & Bar: About Us
The Food
We serve New American Cuisine which means simply a broad menu, everything from a fine filet mignon and a pot roast to stir fries, pastas, pizzas, and burgers.
Lunch
Enjoy a mixture of traditional and original recipes, cultures and flavors at the freshly prepared deli style buffet. Our menu features regional specialties like country baked chicken, meatloaf, chicken pot pie, steaming green beans and creamy macaroni and cheese. We provide a wide array of cold items including coleslaw, fresh fruit salad, hummus and baba ghanouj.
Dinner
On our restaurant's evening menu you will find freshly made soups and Greek salads, a Pesto Pasta, a seafood pasta, The Shipwreck, a Thai Peanut Stir Fry and savory stews like Midnight Chicken Curry, Ratatouille, and Hungarian Goulash. Turkish and Gourmet coffees pair perfectly with rich chocolate torte or any of our homemade pies and cakes.
The Bar
We have a full bar featuring the latest mixed drinks, selection of wines, draft and bottle beers. We’re proud to bring to Lexington its’ first wine preservation system. Wine connoisseurs know that the enemies of wine are light, heat, and oxygen. Using nitrogen gas preservation technology and refrigeration The Winekeeper prevents the wine from coming into contact with heat or oxygen for even an instant, allowing us to serve wine, perfect from the first to the last drop, in every glass.
The Mission
An Art’s and Entertainment Restaurant – Cultural experience. Throughout the centuries “culture” has always happened around food. In community, celebrations and memorials are centered around food in the kitchen - or around a campfire - That’s where culture happens, where there is food there is also the telling of our stories, have family fights, engage in and honor certain customs and remember our pasts - or at least maybe a humorous anecdote from the day before. Business indeed can be considered a cultural experience. Being aware of all this it’s natural for us to incorporate theater, music and social activities into the rhythm and space of the business. That’s us, a modern day camp-fire experience both for us who work here and those who visit.
The Venue
There is music, entertainment, theater, great food and drink every night here throughout the year, with the best of local and national touring and headlining performers taking the stage in an intimate setting. It’s talent you can touch!
Natasha’s has hosted a wide variety of acts, including jazz, rock, world, comedy, pop, country, Americana, folk, singer/songwriter, synth pop, indie rock and blues. Over The Rhine, Punch Brothers, Vienna Teng, Sara Watkins, Michelle Shocked, Harper Simon, Eleni Mandell, and The Belleville Outfit have all played recently on our stage. There are regular performances by our house favorites “The Bats” a hilarious women’s cabaret and the Johnson Brothers whose performance of “The White Album” is stunning!
As a full restaurant and bar with a unique, listening room experience of a small intimate concert -- we're not a beer hall.
Most of our shows start at 9:00 to allow for a quiet dining room between 5:30 and 9:00. So if you’d like to eat and then see the show make reservations for 7 or 8 and stay for the whole evening. However, the kitchen stays open to 11 on weekends so you can still order food and drink during most shows. Generally we add the cover for the show to your bill. (If you’re just stopping by to enjoy our great food and are leaving before the show you never pay a cover)
For some of our larger audiences we remove the tables and provide theater seating with concessions at the bar.
For national touring artists we sell tickets in advance through our box office.
Natasha’s is very happy to be teaming up with the folks at WUKY our local NPR station with a series of broadcast taped shows of outstanding local and national performers. The “Live On Stage” schedule of the encore broadcasts can be viewed at wuky.org.
Balagula Theatre
Balagula Theatre is a professional quality theatre company and has produced over 50 plays on our stage. Formed in 2003 from a collective of local actors and artists seeking new direction and autonomy of artistic expression. The Balagula Theatre Company considers itself an actor’s theatre with a mission of nurturing talent, believing that only when and where the talent and creativity of the performers is given the fullest opportunity, the audiences enjoy the art and culture of theatre at its best.
The Micro Cinema
Our stage room is fitted with a state of the art digital projector for screening film and hosting power point presentations. The local film society regularly produces the “Show me your Shorts” invitational film festival of short films by emerging new filmmakers.
